Learning To Avoid Those Foods That Cause Acne

It's a well known fact, and virtually all experts are in agreeance that dietary choices can have a profound affect in the treatment of existing acne and its prevention. A healthy, hormonally balanced body that is fuelled by nourishing foods and protected by a top- notch immune system is bar none the safest and most effective method of treating and preventing acne. By learning to avoid foods that cause acne, and replacing those culprits with healthy options, you'll be well underway to defeating any battle with acne.

There are many common foods that cause acne and which should be avoided, or banished from the diet all together. While some people are more greatly impacted by consuming processed foods containing chemical preservatives, refined carbohydrates, sugar, most animal fats, modified fats and many types of oils, the truth is that no body receives any benefits from ingesting any amount of these so called foods. Any foods containing white flour such as cookies, crackers, white breads, sweetened cereals, refined pastas, etc. are processed by the body as sugar. And sugar in turn has a very adverse effect on the immune system.

A healthy immune system is well-equipped in dealing with just about any illness, bacteria, and or infection, including acne! Immune boosting foods include garlic, onions, all fruits and veggies, low fat dairy products, and lean proteins such as beef and fish. It's obvious that foods containing certain unhealthy fats will in turn show up as fat or oil feeding acne fuelling bacteria on the skin! Chips, fried foods, fast foods and many packaged convenience foods are loaded with bad fats. But did you know that some fats are actually beneficial and even necessary to healthy skin? Oily fish such as salmon has a very nutritive effect on the skin, as does the oils and fats found in raw seeds and nuts.

Try snacking on a small handful of raw sunflower seeds, pumpkin seeds, and or almonds each day and know that you are doing huge favors for your skin. Avocados contain healthy, skin nourishing fats and are a tasty substitution to fatty mayos. Replace commercial salad dressings with a few teaspoons of apple cider vinegar and olive oil. You won't be sacrificing any taste and will be feeding your skin! A few vitamins that especially benefit and heal the skin include Vitamin A (found in certain fish oils, carrots, sweet potatoes, and papayas), Vitamin C (found in citrus fruits and tomatoes), Vitamin D (found in fortified daily products and from exposing the skin to sun), and Vitamin E (found in nuts, seeds, and avocadoes). In fact, a vitamin deficiency spurred by eating a poor diet can be a major cause of acne.

While they are not foods that cause acne per say, alcohol and cigarettes should absolutely be avoided by every health conscious person, especially those suffering from acne! Both of these vices pollute the body and put undue stress on organs of elimination causing toxins to build up in the skin, amongst instigate and encourage other heath problems and symptoms.

Sometimes a seemingly innocent food an otherwise beneficial food may cause an adverse reaction in an individual based on their specific chemistry. It is always wise to book an allergy test with your physician to determine the possibility of an acne causing food allergy.

It is equally important to be aware of, and avoid foods that cause acne as it is to consume healthful foods that promote vitality and beautiful skin!
